Abstract. Inhabited since ancient times, Peris has experienced over time significant landscape transformation. Historical sources speak of a prince of Vlăsiei, name taken from invest – Vlasiei forests, which occupy a significant area north of the Danube, to contact Prahova Carpathian units. The population occupation here was the first hunting and fishing, and grazing and finally agriculture. This transition from one job to another is closely related to landscape changes by reducing forest area. The forest interspersed with wetlands, providing a natural shelter in the way of enemies, and raw materials for crafts village name is derived from the occupation of the inhabitants were taken from the natural environment. Significant changes of scenery have made their presence felt in the second half of the nineteenth – century. Chronological analysis of existing cartographic material is evident reduction of more than half the forest cover, and place names disappeared under the shelter of the forest sometime.
